Products for Lung Cancer
At Boehringer Ingelheim, we provide innovative treatments for Lung Cancer.
Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common form of lung cancer, and includes three main subtypes:
- Adenocarcinoma is the most common subtype of NSCLC, and frequently associated with histologic heterogeneity. It develops within the mucus producing cells in the lining of the airways.
- Squamous-cell carcinoma is linked more strongly with smoking than other forms of NSCLC. It develops in the squamous cells that line the airways.
- Large cell carcinoma, also known as undifferentiated carcinoma, is named for the appearance of large round cells when examined under the microscope. These tumors have a high tendency to grow and spread quickly.
Prognosis and treatment for NSCLC is dependent on the stage of the disease, the histological subtype, and the presence of oncogenic driver mutations identified during diagnosis.
